Finalists in the competitive tender for the design of the Zorrotzaurre green zones

The Management Commission has selected the five finalists in the competitive call for tenders for the Zorrotzaurre open spaces (or green zones). The deadline was August 10th and a score of teams of architects, engineers and landscape designers presented their candidacies.

The selected teams are composed of the following companies:

• Esteyco Gernika (Bizkaia); Esteyco (Madrid); IMB Arquitectos (Bizkaia); Local 4 (Bizkaia).
• Saitec (Bizkaia); MMI Gestio D’arquitectura I Paisatge (Barcelona).
• González Cavia y Cabrera Arquitectura Urbanismo y Paisaje (Bizkaia); Jansana, De la Villa, De Paauw, Arquitectes (Barcelona).
• Fulcrum Planificación Análisis y Proyectos (Bizkaia); Okra Landschapsarchitecten (Utrech-Holanda).
• Arriola & Fiol Arquitectes (Barcelona); CICSA (Barcelona).

The five teams have 2 months to present their design proposals for the Zorrotzaurre open areas which total 157,000 m2.

The designs will be judged and the winner selected by a jury made up of representatives of the Bilbao City Council, the Basque Government and the Management Commission.
